Canyon Consulting wins $49.7 million Air Force satellite navigation deal
The El Segundo firm will mature alternative satellite navigation technologies for the Air Force Research Laboratory, with work running through October 2031.
EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA — Canyon Consulting LLC has won a $49.7 million Air Force contract to advance satellite navigation technology.
The El Segundo, California, company received a cost-plus-fixed-fee award to mature alternative satellite navigation technologies (see war.gov). Work will be performed in El Segundo and is expected to be completed by Oct. 8, 2031. The contract was a competitive acquisition, and one offer was received.
Fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funds totaling $953,353 are being obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Division, at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, is the contracting activity, under contract number FA9453-26-C-X016 (see war.gov).
The award reflects continued Pentagon investment in navigation systems that could serve as backups to traditional satellite positioning. The effort could affect future defense procurement decisions and the companies competing for related work.
