Army Awards DigiFlight $20.8 Million to Extend Programmatic Support Work

The Columbia, Maryland, firm received a $20.8 million modification to contract W31P4Q-25-F-0159, its fourth Army award of 2026, with work running through April 29, 2027.

COLUMBIA, MARYLAND — DigiFlight Inc., a Columbia, Maryland, information-technology and engineering services firm, received a $20.8 million Army modification to keep providing programmatic support services, as announced on war.gov.

The modification, identified as P00002 to contract W31P4Q-25-F-0159, carries a value of $20,754,958, according to war.gov. Four firms responded to a solicitation posted on the internet, and the contract runs to an estimated completion date of April 29, 2027. Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, will determine work locations and funding with each order, according to war.gov.

“Programmatic support” covers the planning, scheduling, budgeting and technical oversight that keep large defense programs on track. The modification adds money and time to an existing agreement, so DigiFlight gains continuity of work while the Army preserves institutional knowledge on active programs. Competitors that submitted the three other bids lose task orders that will now flow to the incumbent through the spring of 2027.

The deal marks the fourth contract awarded to DigiFlight in 2026, lifting the company’s total federal contract value for the year to $66,004,471, according to internal records compiled for this report. The award falls just short of the firm’s all-time record of $21.7 million. It also stands as the 46th Department of Defense contract awarded in Maryland during 2026.

Against the wider Army portfolio, the award is modest. The service’s year-to-date contract values in 2026 span a minimum of $9.1 million and a maximum of $8.4 billion. The DigiFlight modification sits near the lower end of that range, closer in scale to routine support agreements than to the multibillion-dollar weapons programs that anchor the top of the list.

The award illustrates how a large share of defense spending flows not to hardware but to the specialized firms that manage schedules, budgets and technical documentation behind military programs. That back-office work rarely draws headlines, yet it shapes how quickly and cheaply taxpayer-funded programs reach the field.

This has happened before for DigiFlight. The modification is its fourth award of the year and follows a pattern of programmatic and engineering support contracts with the Army, a relationship reflected in the company’s growing 2026 total. Repeat modifications to an existing vehicle are common in the federal services market, where agencies extend proven contractors rather than recompete active work.

The next decision on additional funding rests with Army Contracting Command at Redstone Arsenal, which will issue individual task orders as requirements arise. A date for the next order has not been announced.

The partnership between defense contractors and Redstone Arsenal reaches back generations. The Alabama installation traces its military roots to 1941, when the Army built the Huntsville Arsenal and Redstone Ordnance Plant to produce chemical munitions during World War II. After the war the site became the cradle of the nation’s rocket and missile programs, hosting Wernher von Braun and the team that developed the Redstone rocket that launched Alan Shepard, the first American in space, in 1961. The arsenal that once churned out artillery shells now oversees contracts that keep modern Army programs, including those handled by firms like DigiFlight, running on schedule.

This contract represents the 4th contract awarded to DigiFlight Inc., in 2026, bringing the company’s total contract value for the year to $66,004,471. It is also the 46th Department of Defense contract awarded in Maryland during 2026. While this is not the largest contract ever awarded to DigiFlight Inc., whose record stands at $21,734,523, it is notable within the Army portfolio. Specifically, it falls between the 2026 Army portfolio’s year-to-date minimum of $9,051,490 and maximum of $8,402,489,648. Overall, this award was announced among 10 Department of Defense contracts issued nationwide on July 28, 2026.
