— Donald J. Trump promoted a new book by Sen.Ted Cruz praising Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, calling the biography a “must read” and sharing a purchase link on Truth Social.

The endorsement gives Cruz’s latest work a boost from the highest-profile megaphone in Republican politics, five days after the book went on sale.

This is Trump’s first message released today, and the last post was 9 days ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 17 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 19 of his 251 posts over the last 30 days classified as Personal Praise, Greetings & Tributes posts.

The book, titled “Going Further: The Incomparable Clarence Thomas,” was published on August 25, 2026, by Sentinel, an imprint of Penguin Random House, according to penguinrandomhouse. The hardcover runs 336 pages and retails for $35. Cruz drew on nine hours of exclusive one-on-one interviews with Thomas, along with his own experience as a former Supreme Court clerk, according to penguinrandomhouse. Trump linked directly to the book’s Amazon listing (see amazon).

Cruz, the Republican senator from Texas and a former clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist, said in an NPR interview that the biography traces Thomas’s journey from poverty in segregated Georgia to his role as the court’s senior justice, according to npr. Thomas, born in 1948, grew up while Plessy v. Ferguson remained the law of the land. Cruz said Thomas moved from radical left-wing politics in college to the individualism he had learned growing up, according to npr.

“There has never been a Supreme Court justice more willing to go back to the original Constitution, go back to the original understanding and to overturn precedent,” Cruz said in the NPR interview, according to npr. “He is the most willing to overturn precedent.”

Cruz also said the book does not signal his own judicial ambitions. “I will never be a judge,” Cruz said, adding that a principled judge stays out of policy fights and that he prefers to remain in those fights, according to npr. Cruz named Thomas,Antonin Scalia,Samuel Alito and Rehnquist as the four giants of the Supreme Court in their lifetimes, according to npr.

Thomas has authored opinions on gun rights and joined the ruling overturning a constitutional right to abortion. The publisher’s description calls his insistence that the Constitution, rather than judicial precedent alone, serves as the highest authority a force that has “reshaped American jurisprudence,” according to penguinrandomhouse. The book covers Thomas’s early years studying to be a priest, his encounters with racism in the segregated South, and his brief period in radical politics before his rightward shift, according to penguinrandomhouse.

Trump’s endorsement carries commercial weight because his social-media posts have a track record of driving merchandise and book sales among his supporters. Cruz has previously authored bestselling books including “Unwoke,” “Justice Corrupted,” “One Vote Away” and “A Time for Truth,” according to penguinrandomhouse.

Presidential book endorsements on social media have surfaced before. Trump plugged books by allies throughout his first term and again after returning to office, turning truthsocial into a regular launchpad for titles by political allies. Cruz and Trump clashed during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, when Cruz refused to endorse Trump at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Cruz backed Trump ahead of the general election that November and has remained aligned with him since, a relationship now reinforced by a public tribute to a justice both men champion as the court’s most consequential conservative voice.
