Donald J. Trump is actively campaigning for GOP candidates ahead of the November 3, 2026 midterm elections, which will decide control of Congress. While Trump-aligned groups are spending heavily, Republicans face historic headwinds due to public dissatisfaction and the ongoing war with Iran. The races will determine if Democrats flip slim Republican majorities.

Trump told voters to act like he’s on the ballot in the midterms, and he’s campaigning like he is. He hasn’t stopped. One host said we will never see anyone work as hard as that man. Republicans face real headwinds, since it’s a sitting president’s second midterm. But a few years ago Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania weren’t even competitive for Republicans. Trump put them back in play by winning working class voters. Democrats had a choice to moderate and win those voters back. They chose to move further left. Nobody outworks Trump.

Video transcript He’s acting like he’s on the ballot. He is campaigning so hard. He has not stopped. And that is something that I think when all of this is said and done, when his term is over, we’re going to miss what a hard working president looks like because I don’t think we’ll ever see anyone work as hard as that man. You know, obviously the headwinds are very much totally going against Republicans just because of the nature of politics. It’s the second midterm for a sitting president. That’s always a very difficult time. But the big picture sort of his historical moment here is you know 20 years ago Democrats were romping in states like Michigan by double digit points. Trump walks in and takes all of these states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, puts them back into play and then wins them. And what’s significant about that is what was the Democrat response to it? You would think the Democrat response to that would be to moderate and become and try to get those working class voters back to their side of the aisle. But that’s not what they did. They took off and went crazy.

President Trump is the author of The Art of the Deal, Think Like a Billionaire, and Think Big. Analyst and Trump supporter Rod Martin points to The Art of the Deal, Trump's 1987 book, as an explanation of his deal-making philosophy: making big announcements, pivoting often in public statements and, Martin says, ultimately getting what he wanted all along. Critics contend that Trump's books were published decades ago or were aimed at making money, not shedding light. "Generally," Martin said, "critics don't read The Art of the Deal. If they did, they would understand."
