— Donald J. Trump endorsed four Republican candidates in Louisiana, urging voters to support Julia Letlow for the U.S. Senate and Steve Scalise, Clay Higgins, and Mike Johnson for the U.S. House of Representatives.

The endorsements arrive just before the midterm elections, with the former president throwing his support behind the congressional delegation and directing his followers to a Republican National Committee voting initiative.

“These Great Patriots have my Complete and Total Endorsement — They will never let you down!” Trump said in the post.

The push directs voters to the “Swamp the Vote USA” campaign, a Republican National Committee effort designed to mobilize conservative turnout on Election Day.

President Trump is the author of The Art of the Deal, Think Like a Billionaire, and Think Big. Analyst and Trump supporter Rod Martin points to The Art of the Deal, Trump's 1987 book, as an explanation of his deal-making philosophy: making big announcements, pivoting often in public statements and, Martin says, ultimately getting what he wanted all along. Critics contend that Trump's books were published decades ago or were aimed at making money, not shedding light. "Generally," Martin said, "critics don't read The Art of the Deal. If they did, they would understand."
