Yaniv Hayoun is an Israeli plumber who helped save 174 passengers aboard a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv in late September 2026. Hayoun and other passengers entered the cockpit to subdue a copilot who had stabbed the captain. Hayoun briefly seized the controls to help stabilize the plunging aircraft.

Video transcript I want to thank and congratulate Yaniv Hayoun, who’s an Israeli plumber and he’s a Trump fan and I’m a fan of his, a big fan. He saved that flight yesterday. He did an amazing job. He got in there and he learned how to fly by watching air disasters on television and he’s my kind of guy. He could be my plumber, he could be whatever he wants to be. What a job he did. He’s a hero and I want to just congratulate him and his family. You like me and I like you. Thank you, Yaniv.

President Trump is the author of Trump: The Art of the Deal, Trump: Think Like a Billionaire: Everything You Need to Know About Success, Real Estate, and Life, and Think Big: Make It Happen in Business and Life. Analyst and Trump supporter Rod Martin points to The Art of the Deal, Trump's 1987 book, as an explanation of his deal-making philosophy: making big announcements, pivoting often in public statements and, Martin says, ultimately getting what he wanted all along. Critics contend that Trump's books were published decades ago or were aimed at making money, not shedding light. "Generally," Martin said, "critics don't read The Art of the Deal. If they did, they would understand."
