Jon Husted is a Republican junior U.S. Senator from Ohio, appointed in January 2025 to fill the seat vacated by Vice President JD Vance.
Before his political career, Husted was an All-American defensive back at the University of Dayton. He is currently running to retain his seat in the 2026 special election. I asked the Coach, “Why are you here Jon?” He said, “I’m here to support my teammate for Senator of Ohio,” and I said, “What do you mean, teammate, did Jon Husted play football?” And Jon Gruden said, “Yeah, we had a great team, and he was the best player, by far. He played safety, and he had 17 interceptions, A RECORD!” I said, “Wow, I didn’t know that about Jon.” He said, “Yep, he was a great player, but because of the man he is, HUMBLE, he doesn’t go around talking about it like everyone else would have.” Such a great story!
