Boeing receives $880 million Navy P-8A Poseidon training contract

The Boeing Co. will procure, modernize and sustain aircrew and maintenance training systems for the Navy's P-8A Poseidon fleet, with work spanning a dozen countries through June 2031.

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — The Boeing Co. received an $880 million contract to build and sustain training systems for the Navy’s P-8A Poseidon fleet, the Defense Department announced June 19, 2026.

The firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award covers the procurement, modernization and sustainment of P-8A aircrew and maintenance training systems. It funds new training devices, upgrades to existing trainers, and associated hardware, software, spares and support services for Navy fleet readiness (see war.gov). The P-8A Poseidon is the Navy’s maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft, and the contract supports evolving mission requirements through June 2031 (see Google).

Work will center on St. Louis, Missouri, which accounts for 80% of the effort, with additional work in Jacksonville, Florida, and Oak Harbor, Washington. The remainder spans allied training sites in Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Korea, Germany, Canada, Singapore and Norway. The Navy will obligate funds on individual orders as they are issued, and the contract was not competed. Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Orlando, Florida, is the contracting activity.

The award marks Boeing’s 24th contract of 2026, raising the company’s total contract value for the year to $33.2 billion. It is the largest Navy contract awarded in 2026 and the only Defense Department contract issued nationwide that day.
