Trump issued the endorsement on the day of the Republican primary in Colorado, urging voters to turn out for Hurd. The post cited border security, military and veterans support, energy production, tax cuts, Second Amendment rights and national defense as reasons for backing the congressman.

Jeff Hurd, 46, is a lawyer from Grand Junction, Colorado, who took office in January 2025 after winning the 2024 general election (see Google). He earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, a law degree from the University of Denver and a master of laws from Columbia University (see legistorm.com). Hurd succeeded Rep.Lauren Boebert, who switched districts ahead of the 2024 race.

Hurd serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources, the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (see house.gov). He chairs the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs and belongs to the Republican Study Committee and the Congressional Western Caucus.

Hurd has broken with his party on select issues during his first term. He joined a dozen moderate Republicans in writing a letter to House leadership urging preservation of Medicaid coverage, and he was one of six Republicans who voted to rescind tariffs the Trump administration had imposed on Canada (see Google).
