Lockheed Martin wins $105 million contract for GPS III space vehicle upgrades
The Colorado Springs firm will modify GPS control segments to command the next generation of GPS III follow-on satellites, with work due by Dec. 31, 2030.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO — Lockheed Martin Services LLC has won a maximum $105 million firm-fixed-price task order for Global Positioning System modifications.
The Colorado Springs, Colorado, company will perform GPS control segment modifications to provide command and control capability for the next generation of GPS III follow-on space vehicles (see war.gov). Work will be performed in Colorado Springs and is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2030. The award was a sole source acquisition.
Fiscal 2026 research, development, test, and evaluation funds of $10.1 million are being obligated at the time of award. Space Systems Command, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado, is the contracting activity, under contract number FA8823-26-F-B017 (see war.gov).
The modifications support the ground systems that operate the newest GPS III satellites, extending command and control for a constellation the military and civilian users rely on for positioning and timing. The Air Force disclosed the award among its daily contract announcements for July 7, 2026.
