— Donald J. Trump said the Board of Peace reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza, calling it a monumental step toward peace and security.

The deal ties disarmament to a phased Israeli military withdrawal and the transfer of Gaza to a new Palestinian government, according to Trump. He framed the agreement as a central piece of his 20-point plan for the territory, and he credited mediators Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye for their role.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY. This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks. This is a major milestone in the implementation of the Trump 20-Point Plan. The agreement will be carried out in carefully structured phases. As disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw, and the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for Gaza being safe for its residents and its neighbors. One year ago there was a violent raging war, humanitarian crisis and hostages kept in brutal captivity. We have made historic progress and there is still much work to do. I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye—for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible. The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild! Under this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its PEOPLE. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ON THIS AMAZING DEVELOPMENT, THAT EVERYBODY SAID COULD NEVER BE ACHIEVED! Trump President of the United States of America” on July 30, 2026 at 6:24 PM ET.

This is the third message released by Trump today. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025.

The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 59 of his 423 posts over the last 30 days focused on foreign policy.

The agreement raises the stakes for every party in the conflict. Palestinian civilians in Gaza stand to gain if a new government and a police force restore basic order, while Hamas would lose its weapons and its grip on the territory. Israel would gain a buffer against attacks launched from Gaza, though it would trade that security for a staged pullout of its forces.

The plan hinges on sequencing that Trump described as carefully structured phases. Israeli forces would withdraw as disarmament finishes, and an International Stabilization Force would partner with a new Palestinian police force to secure the enclave. Trump said the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 would not be allowed to rebuild.

The October 7, 2023 attacks and the military campaign that followed reshaped the region, displacing much of Gaza’s population and drawing repeated cease-fire efforts. Trump pointed to that baseline directly, noting that one year ago the territory faced a raging war, a humanitarian crisis and hostages held in captivity. He said progress had come while much work remained.

For an American reader, the announcement signals a possible easing of a conflict that has strained US diplomacy, drawn military deployments to the region and driven debate over foreign aid. A durable settlement could reduce the risk of a wider Middle East war that would ripple through energy markets and shipping lanes.

Disarmament deals of this kind have stalled before. Prior cease-fire and hostage arrangements in the conflict repeatedly broke down over sequencing, verification and governance, and each side accused the other of violations. The question now is whether a phased structure and an international force can hold where earlier efforts did not.

The next decisions rest with the parties tasked with carrying out the phases, including the mediators and the bodies overseeing disarmament and withdrawal. A firm date for the first phase to begin has not been announced.

Brokered peace in the region has collapsed before as often as it has held. The 1993 Oslo Accords, signed on the White House lawn, promised Palestinian self-government and a staged Israeli withdrawal, according to pbs.org. Within seven years the process stalled and violence resumed in a second uprising. The leaders who staked their standing on that deal watched its central promise of a final settlement go unfulfilled.
