— Donald J. Trump endorsed Congresswoman Carol Miller for re-election in West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, calling her a fierce advocate for his agenda.

Miller, a Republican who has represented West Virginia in the U.S. House since 2019, serves on the Committee on Ways and Means and lists border security, tax cuts and American energy among her priorities according to house.gov. Trump credited her with fighting to grow the economy, promote domestic manufacturing and defend gun rights.

Here is the full post on truthsocial: “Congresswoman Carol Miller is an incredible Representative for the Great People of West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District! Carol is a Fierce Advocate for our America First Agenda. In Congress, she is fighting tirelessly to Secure our Border, Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Support our Incredible Military/Vets, Champion American Energy, Defend our always under siege Second Amendment, and Restore PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH. Carol Miller has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” on August 3, 2026 at 4:07 PM ET.

This is Trump’s 8th message released today, and the last post was 0 minutes ago, and it is not part of a thread. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 68 of his 443 posts over the last 30 days classified as Elections posts.

Miller was born Carol Devine in Columbus, Ohio, on November 4, 1950, and is the daughter of former Congressman Samuel L. Devine according to house.gov. She owns and operates Swann Ridge Bison Farm in Huntington, where she lives with her husband Matt. Before Congress, she served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2018, where she rose to become the first female Majority Whip according to house.gov.

The endorsement carries weight in a district that leans heavily Republican. Miller first won the seat, then numbered the 3rd district, in 2018, defeating State Senator Richard Ojeda with 56.4% of the vote according to wikipedia.org. She became the first woman to represent the district and the only Republican woman elected to an open House seat that year.

Redistricting after the 2020 Census renumbered her seat as the 1st district and shifted the state’s numbering scheme, placing the 1st district in the south according to wikipedia.org. Miller retained the counties from her old district and gained the ten southernmost counties from the former 2nd district, including Kanawha County, home to Charleston. She won the redrawn seat in 2022 with 66.7% of the general-election vote.

For voters in southern West Virginia, the backing signals continued alignment between their representative and the White House on coal, oil and gas policy, industries central to the region’s economy according to house.gov. A Ways and Means seat gives Miller direct influence over tax and trade legislation that shapes household budgets and local employment.

This is not the first time Trump has thrown his support behind Miller. He backed her earlier campaigns as she built margins above 66% in her recent general elections according to wikipedia.org. Her dominant vote shares suggest the seat carries little competitive risk heading into the next cycle.

West Virginia voters will decide the race, with the district’s primary and general election to follow the state’s regular federal schedule. A specific date for the 2026 general election falls on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, though the campaign calendar for challengers has not been finalized.

Presidential endorsements have long shaped West Virginia’s congressional map, as happened before. When Evan Jenkins vacated the 3rd district seat in 2018 to challenge Senator Joe Manchin, Miller emerged from a crowded Republican primary and carried all but two counties in November according to wikipedia.org. The seat has stayed in Republican hands ever since, and Miller’s predecessor’s departure opened the path that made her the first woman to hold the district.
