Donald Trump has declared his economy “soaring” and claimed the stock market finished its best quarter since his last presidency in a Truth Social post on July 3, 2026 at 8:02 PM EST.

Here is the full post (see truthsocial): “THE TRUMP ECONOMY IS SOARING! The Stock Market just completed its BEST QUARTER since the last time I was President. The S&P 500, Nasdaq, and Dow are all SURGING, sending Americans’ 401(k)s higher and higher. My Working Families Tax Cuts mean MORE MONEY IN AMERICAN POCKETS. Our Trade Deficit continues to shrink as U.S. Exports hit Record Month after Month. America is building more, producing more, and selling more than ever before. Trillions of Dollars in new Investment brought in by my Administration mean more Factories, more Jobs, and more Opportunity for Americans. This is WINNING. The Golden Age of America is beginning — and we are just getting star ted!Donald T rump”

Trump credited what he called his Working Families Tax Cuts for putting more money in American pockets and said a shrinking trade deficit and record exports reflect a nation building, producing and selling more than ever. He tied trillions of dollars in new investment to more factories, jobs and opportunity, framing the moment as the start of what he called a “Golden Age of America.”

Democrats offered a sharply different account of the same economy. A recent jobs report for June showed job growth lagging significantly below economists’ expectations, while inflation continues to outpace wages (see democrats.org). Inflation in May hit its highest point in years, and Americans are dipping into their savings to afford gas, groceries and healthcare as pessimism about finding a job sits near an all-time high (see democrats.org).

Donald Trump and Republicans aren’t even trying to hide their contempt for working Americans,” said DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer (see democrats.org). The party said gas prices are expected to be the second-highest for July 4 on record and that roughly 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck (see democrats.org).

A separate analysis said the July Fourth jobs report shows the American dream slipping out of reach for many working families (see groundworkcollaborative.org).
