Trump Says Board of Peace Reached Deal to Fully Disarm Hamas in Gaza
Trump announces a phased agreement to disarm Hamas, withdraw Israeli forces and install a new Palestinian government under his 20-point plan.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump, the 47th president of the United States, said the Board of Peace reached an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza.
The deal would proceed in phases, with Israeli forces withdrawing as disarmament advances and an International Stabilization Force partnering with a new Palestinian police force to secure the territory, Trump said on truthsocial.
“Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza,” Trump wrote. “This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY.”
The announcement marks the latest turn in a conflict that began with the October 7 attacks. It would reshape governance in a territory that has been a flashpoint of Middle East violence for decades.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “Today, the Board of Peace reached a HISTORIC agreement for the COMPLETE DISARMAMENT of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. This is a monumental step toward lasting PEACE and SECURITY. This agreement is a critical step towards Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Board of Peace to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will have the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer used as a base for terror attacks. This is a major milestone in the implementation of the Trump 20-Point Plan. The agreement will be carried out in carefully structured phases. As disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw, and the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for Gaza being safe for its residents and its neighbors. One year ago there was a violent raging war, humanitarian crisis and hostages kept in brutal captivity. We have made historic progress and there is still much work to do. I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye—for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible. The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will NOT be allowed to rebuild! Under this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its PEOPLE. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ON THIS AMAZING DEVELOPMENT, THAT EVERYBODY SAID COULD NEVER BE ACHIEVED! Trump President of the United States of America” on July 30, 2026 at 7:13 PM ET.
This is Trump’s 6th message released today. On average, Trump produces 18 posts per day since his inauguration on January 20, 2025.
The move fits a broader pattern in Trump’s recent messaging, with 60 of his 424 posts over the last 30 days focused on foreign policy.
Trump framed the agreement as a milestone in his 20-Point Plan, a framework he has promoted for ending the war and rebuilding Gaza’s governance. He credited three mediators for brokering the terms. “I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye—for their important efforts,” he wrote. He also referenced an earlier post laying out the broader arrangement by mentioning the source (see truthsocial).
The stakes reach beyond Gaza’s borders. A disarmed Hamas and a new Palestinian administration would remove a militant group Israel has fought across multiple wars. The withdrawal of Israeli forces would return day-to-day control to Palestinian hands. Residents of Gaza stand to gain relief from a war Trump described as a humanitarian crisis, while Hamas would lose the weapons and authority it has held since seizing the territory.
Gaza has passed through repeated cycles of conflict and cease-fire. Hamas took control of the coastal enclave in 2007 after winning legislative elections the year before, and Israel and the group have fought several rounds since. The territory holds roughly 2 million people in one of the most densely populated areas on earth, a scale comparable to a large American city packed into a strip smaller than many U.S. counties.
For the average American reader, the deal touches U.S. commitments abroad. The plan envisions an International Stabilization Force, a multinational effort that could draw on American diplomatic backing and funding, shaping how Washington allocates attention and resources in the region.
Disarmament pledges in the Middle East have surfaced before. Cease-fire and demilitarization proposals accompanied earlier rounds of the conflict, yet none produced the complete disarmament Trump described. That leaves the durability of this agreement dependent on the phased implementation he outlined.
The next steps rest with the parties named in the plan and the mediators who brokered it. Trump did not specify a date for the first phase of disarmament or the initial Israeli withdrawal, and a timetable for those steps has not been announced.
Efforts to broker peace in the Holy Land are not new, as leaders before Trump have reached for deals in the same contested ground. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter hosted Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin at Camp David for 13 days of talks that produced the accords leading to the 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty, according to britannica.com. Sadat and Begin shared the 1978 Nobel Peace Prize for that breakthrough, according to britannica.com. Militants opposed to the accord assassinated Sadat in 1981.
