— The Department of War has nominated Air Force Brig. Gen. Jeffrey W. Nelson for appointment to the grade of major general on June 22, 2026 Jeffrey Nelson.

Nelson currently serves as commander of the Air Force Accessions Center and commander of the Air Force Recruiting Service, Air Education and Training Command, at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. The nomination would elevate him from a one-star to a two-star general officer, a rank that typically carries broader command authority and larger leadership responsibilities (see war.gov).

Nelson recently assumed command of his current recruiting role at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph (see jbsa.mil). The Air Force Accessions Center and the Air Force Recruiting Service oversee the pipeline that brings new personnel into the service, placing Nelson at the center of the branch’s efforts to fill its ranks (see af.mil).

The nomination was included among the general officer announcements issued by the Secretary of War for June 22, 2026. Such nominations advance for Senate consideration before the promotion becomes final.
