The directive would return roughly 50,000 barrels a day to the market, a 15% increase to California’s in-state output that can replace nearly 1.5 million barrels of foreign crude each month, according to energy.gov. U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright signed the order to compel Sable Offshore Corp.., the operator that employs more than 100 workers and about 400 contractors in Santa Barbara County. The order directs the company to restore the Santa Ynez Unit and its pipeline system.
