Trump Calls AI Safety Warnings a Hoax, Vows to Keep U.S. Ahead of China
Trump compares AI doom predictions to climate change warnings and says the Department of Justice will serve as a guardrail if needed.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald J. Trump dismissed warnings about artificial intelligence as a hoax and vowed to keep the United States ahead of China in the global AI race, rejecting calls for strict regulation of the technology.
Here is the full post on truthsocial: “The same people that said, “We’ll all be dead in twelve years because of Global Warming,” a name since “reborn” to Climate Change, because the Planet was cooling, not warming, and nobody was dead, are the people that are now saying that AI is going to kill us, that robots are going to attack us, and everything is a DISASTER. This is more of a Hoax than even that of RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, and Climate Change! Whoever wins AI, WINS! We are leading now over China, and everyone else, and I’m going to keep it that way! I’m not going to stifle Growth, of something that will be bigger than the Industrial Revolution, or the Internet, itself. We will be careful, and that’s why we have the Department of Justice, and other Law Enforcement bodies, that will rein things in if we have to, but I will only encourage AI or, SI (SUPER INTELLIGENCE)! Trump” on September 21, 2026 at 11:48 AM ET.

Trump, in the post on truthsocial, compared those warning about AI risks to critics who predicted mass death from Global Warming — a term he said was later rebranded as Climate Change. He called AI safety concerns a greater hoax than what he labeled the Russia and Ukraine investigations, framing the technology as a generational opportunity rather than a threat. He used the term SUPER INTELLIGENCE, or SI, to describe the technology’s potential ceiling.
Trump said he would not restrict AI growth, which he predicted would surpass the Industrial Revolution and the Internet in its impact. He said the Department of Justice and other law enforcement bodies would serve as guardrails if needed, but made clear his administration’s posture would be one of encouragement. Trump claimed the United States is currently leading China and all other nations in AI development and said he intends to maintain that advantage. The post did not cite specific metrics or government reports to support that ranking.
