L3Harris wins $499.6 million missile defense sensor contract in Tulsa
The Missile Defense Agency awarded L3Harris unit Aeromet a decade-long deal to sustain and modernize flight test airborne sensor aircraft, with a $22.2 million initial task order and $5 million already obligated.

L3Harris Technologies Integrated Systems L.P., doing business as Aeromet, received an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum value of $499,573,000, the Missile Defense Agency said. Under the follow-on award, the contractor will support the agency’s Flight Test Airborne Sensors program. The work covers operations and sustainment of flight test aircraft and sensor equipment, mission planning, flight test execution, and improvement and modernization efforts.
The Flight Test Airborne Sensors program is vital for testing national missile defense systems, and L3Harris will provide a decade of operations and modernization for the aircraft and sensor equipment (see l3harris.com). The work will be performed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One initial task order valued at $22.2 million is being issued, and the ordering period runs from Sept. 15, 2026, through Sept. 14, 2036. The contract was competitively procured through the Governmentwide Point of Entry website with one proposal received. Fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funds of $5 million are being obligated on this award. The Missile Defense Agency, Huntsville, Alabama, is the contracting activity.
This is the first contract awarded to Aeromet in 2026, bringing the company’s total contract value for the year to $499.6 million, and it is the ninth Department of Defense contract awarded in Oklahoma during 2026.
