Trump warns 1,000 missiles are aimed at Iran over assassination threat
Trump said the U.S. military has orders to strike for a year if Tehran acts on threats against his life, days after declaring the ceasefire over.

NARRATIVE Trump said the United States had already issued military orders and stood ready to strike Iran if its government acted on what he called threats against his life (see economictimes.com). Iran rejected the accusation and returned its own charge. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran had honored the ceasefire. Trump’s warning came a day after he declared the ceasefire with Iran was over. He said Tehran had sought further talks and Washington had agreed to continue them.
The flare-up followed attacks on commercial tankers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Those attacks prompted U.S. strikes on Iranian targets and retaliatory Iranian attacks on U.S. facilities in Gulf states (see economictimes.com). Qatari officials held talks with Iranian counterparts to ease tensions and address navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, while Araghchi was expected to visit Oman. At the U.N. Security Council, U.S. Deputy Ambassador Tammy Bruce said Washington still viewed negotiations as the preferred path to address concerns over Iran’s nuclear program, which Tehran maintains is peaceful.
BUTTON This is not the first time a U.S. president has threatened Iran with overwhelming force. In January 2020, Trump warned that the United States had targeted 52 Iranian sites for strikes should Tehran retaliate for the killing of General Qassem Soleimani (see britannica.com).
